Compared to last week: Hay prices remained steady with trade activity slow on light to moderate demand. Freezing temperatures and sleet expected in the Panhandle over the weekend. Coastal Bermuda producers got in a last hay cutting and baling before the hard frost in central and east Texas this past weekend. Supplemental feeding to livestock is now a must in most areas. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.
North, Central, & East Texas
Alfalfa: Small Squares: FOB: Premium to Supreme $7, $230 per ton: Good to Premium $5-$7, $165-$230 per ton.
Large Squares: Delivered: Premium to Supreme $280-$315; Good to Premium $250-$275.
Coastal Bermuda: Small Squares: FOB: Good to Premium $200-$230, $6-$7 per bale; Fair to Good $4-$6 per bale, $135-$200 per ton.
Large Rounds: FOB: Good to Premium $50-$80; $100-$160 per ton, Good $40-$50 per roll; $80-$100 per ton.
South Texas Hay Report
Coastal Bermuda: Small squares: FOB: Good to Premium $230-$265, $7-$8 per bale; Fair to Good $165-$230, $5-$7 per bale.
Large rounds: FOB and delivered locally: Good to Premium $120-$160; $60-$80, instances $90 per roll.
