Earlier this week, NBC Sports began announcing its on-air talent for its NASCAR television coverage that’s set to begin with the 2015 race season. So far, Jeff Burton and Rick Allen have been revealed as members of the NBC NASCAR broadcasting team, with Allen being the lead announcer and Burton as an analyst.

“Jeff Burton was always the first person we would seek out when there was breaking news or an issue that needed to be covered throughout our previous contract with NASCAR, so he was the first person we called for this role,” NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network Executive Producer Sam Flood said. “His insights, keen observations and many trophies have earned the respect of everyone involved with the sport. He will be an outstanding analyst and has everyone here looking even more forward to getting started.”

Burton is scaling back his racing schedule, beginning with the upcoming 2014 season. After full-time Sprint Cup Racing for Roush Fenway Racing and then Richard Childress Racing, Burton recently announced that he would be a test driver and run a limited amount of races in a No. 66 entry for Michael Waltrip Racing next season.

Burton will also contribute to NASCAR programming on the NBC Sports Network in 2014 before becoming a full-time analyst the following season when NBC begins its race coverage. Beginning in 2015, NBC will have exclusive broadcast rights to the final 20 Sprint Cup Series races of the season, the final 19 Nationwide Series races and select regional and touring series events.

“This is an exciting new challenge, and I am thrilled to be joining the NBC Sports family,” Burton said. “I will prepare for each race as if I were driving in it, and I look forward to sharing my experience, views and insights with all the dedicated and passionate NASCAR fans.”

Allen has worked as a broadcaster/announcer for television broadcasts of Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series races for SPEED Channel and FOX Sports for several years. He also hosted several racing-related shows on the former SPEED Channel, as well as doing voice-over work for companies including Goodyear, Sears, Alltel and Toyota.

“I’ve had the good fortune to work with some of the most talented people in this industry over the last decade,” Allen said. “Now, I’m excited to be a part of the incredible team that NBC Sports is assembling for their NASCAR coverage.”
