Offer condolences


Robert Felix Gawlik, a lifelong resident of Wilson County, Texas, entered eternal rest Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at 3:15 p.m., in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 15 days. Robert was born July 20, 1942, in Wilson County, the son of Felix and Monica Moczygemba Gawlik.

After graduating from Falls City High School, Robert worked as a farmer and rancher. He married Joan Mutz on Aug. 22, 1964, in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kosciusko.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lucian Gawlik, and his sister, Alice Kroll.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of more than 49 years, Joan Mutz Gawlik of Falls City; his sons, Anthony Wayne Gawlik of Poth and Gregory Robert Gawlik of Falls City; his granddaughter, Ciarra Gawlik of Adkins; siblings George Gawlik and wife Joann of Falls City, Catherine Kotara and husband Adrian of Poth, and Patsy Minus and husband Fred of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Gregory Sawicki.

Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Falls City.

Serving as pallbearers were John Bodden, Emil Rakowitz, Melvin Lyssy, Darrell Lyssy, Steven Minus, and Mark Gawlik.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 291048, San Antonio, TX 78229-1648.
