The Stockdale Blue Bonnet Club members, spouses, and guests met Dec. 2 for their annual Christmas outing at the Gristmill River Restaurant in Gruene.

Social Chairman Sharon West welcomed the members and their husbands and guests. After a time of fellowship, Ron Wiatrek gave the blessing of the meal and the gathering of friends. The dinner was enjoyed by all amid the bright decorations and pleasant atmosphere.

Edith Akin, a Blue Bonnet Club member since 1957 (56 years), celebrated her 98th birthday on Dec. 3. The Gristmill servers presented her with a scrumptious, beautifully decorated strawberry upside-down cake, complete with whipped cream puffs and delicious strawberries. Edith was totally surprised and pleased to be honored by her club friends. The group then sang “Happy Birthday” for her enjoyment.

Attending the outing and dinner were members Edith Akin, Judy and Larry Childress, Kay Deagan, Helen and Ben Deason, Cathy Hilton, Mildred Kallies, Bernice and John Tom Person, Molly and T.C. Rowell, Sharon and Gary West, Barbara and Ron Wiatrek, and Billie Jo Wolff. Margaret Hastings and Haley Stroud attended as special guests.

The evening was rounded out with more visiting and the enjoyment of the Gruene historic Christmas lights.
