Stockdale ISD GT nomination deadline is Dec. 20
The Stockdale Independent School District Gifted and Talented Nomination and Screening Committee has begun the nomination and screening process for students in grades 1-11. The nominations period will be two weeks, ending Friday, Dec. 20, at noon. After nominations have been placed, permission slips for testing will be sent home and testing will begin.
A student may be nominated for the program by teachers, counselors, parents, or other interested persons. Once a student is nominated for the program, a variety of information is gathered on each student. No single test score or nomination will qualify a child for the program.
Once all the information is gathered, a selection committee meets to determine which students qualify for the program. The program focuses on developing higher level thinking skills, creative thinking skills, and research skills with an emphasis in the four core areas of instruction.
If an individual wishes to nominate a student for this program, he/she may come by the student’s school and request the necessary nomination form. If a person wishing to nominate a student is unable to come to the school, he/she may call the school and the form will be sent. The form also can be accessed on the Stockdale ISD website at http://www.stockdaleisd.org. Students who enter the program must have parental permission prior to admission.
