1922-2013

Leonard J. Kotzur, 91, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Falls City to John F. and Mary L. (Skloss) Kotzur.

Leonard enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served from 1942 to 1946 during World War II. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s University and Incarnate Word University, earning three degrees.

After 34 years of teaching in Victoria, Falls City, and Floresville, he retired. Leonard was a CCD teacher for 20 years, a church sacristan, a Eucharistic Minister, and lector. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Leonard served in the Rosary Circle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Lorraine Lucille Wiatrek and Edna Marie Kotzur; and an infant brother.

Leonard is survived by his brother-in-law, Benedict S. Wiatrek of San Antonio; nephews Randall B. Wiatrek and wife Carol of Allen, Wayne A. Wiatrek of Houston, and Gary F. Wiatrek and wife Yvette of Katy; great-nieces Valerie Wiatrek, Sarah Routt, and Katherine Wiatrek; and his great-nephew, Gregory Wiatrek.

Visitation was held Saturday, Dec. 14, at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, with a rosary recited at 10 a.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Falls City Cemetery in Falls City.
