Elmendorf council approves several zoning ordinances
Citizens of Elmendorf now have clear guidelines for residences and businesses. The Elmendorf City Council approved several ordinances Dec. 12, including a zoning ordinance, during a regular meeting.
Ordinance 12-12-2013-1 regulates land uses within the city, provides standards for structures, establishes zoning districts, and more.
Citizens previously voiced concerns Nov. 14 in regard to boundary lines within the city. A previous map showed close boundaries between residences and industrial zones.
City Administrator Cody Dailey answered the concerns using the city’s new official map. The new map more clearly outlines zones within the city.
The council also approved two resolutions, one to set standards for determining uncollectible receivables per statement on auditing standards, and the other to set a fixed asset methodology for capital assets.
In other business, the council discussed the proposed Interlocal Agreement with Bexar County for police dispatch services. The council was apprehensive of approving the agreement Nov. 14 without meeting with a Bexar County representative.
Robert Adelman was present Dec. 12 to represent the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
The council again took no action on the item.
The council also:
•Approved a revision of the franchise fee agreement with City Public Service.
•Heard an update regarding the addition of streetlights on Loop 1604 at the Old Corpus Christi Road ramp. CPS Energy is waiting for the Texas Department of Transportation to determine the type of poles needed for the project.
•Approved the acceptance of a petition for annexation from Alamo Junction Rail Park.
•Approved Resolution 12-12-2013-1R, a variance to the subdivision ordinance, regarding the size of easements for the Alamo Junction Rail Park.
•Approved the acceptance of the Homewood Place subdivision master development plan.
•Heard an update on the City of Elmendorf website development.
•Approved the approval/certification of the 2013 Tax Roll according to Section 26.09e of the State Property Tax Code.
•Approved a 5-percent increase on SAWS rates beginning in March.
•Approved several actions following the advice of legal counsel regarding litigation, as well as a budget amendment.
