Poth ISD purchases land for $165K
The Poth Independent School District has plans to spend $165,000 to purchase land at the corner of Griffith and Dickson streets, according to Superintendent Scott Caloss after the Dec. 9 board of trustees meeting. The purchase, he said, is part of the district’s long-term facilities plan.
Caloss said the district plans to use the land for athletic and band practices and physical education activities.
Also during the meeting, the board:
•Voted to reappoint Jim Yanta as its representative to the Wilson County Appraisal District for the 2014-15 term.
•Set a special meeting for Feb. 19, to adopt a policy related to student drug testing that will become effective at the start of the 2014-15 school year.
•Voted to reschedule its Jan. 13 regular meeting to Jan. 15.
•Received a presentation on the district’s 2012-13 financial audit. According to Corpus Christi-based Lovvorn & Kieschnick, the Poth ISD received a clean audit.
