ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Many churches are planning special Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve services to celebrate the reason for the season, the birth of Jesus Christ. Following is a list of Christmas services in the local area, published as a service for readers seeking a place to worship. Services take place on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, unless otherwise noted.

Cestohowa

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 830-745-2633, will offer midnight Mass, as well as 10 a.m. Mass Christmas morning. Additionally, Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Elmendorf

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 210-635-8539, will hold a Vigil Mass at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., with Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Christmas Day. A New Year’s Eve Vigil Mass will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a Mass on New Year’s Day at 11:30 a.m.

Falls City

The Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 830-254-3539, will hold a Shepherd’s Mass featuring the Children’s Choir at 4:30 p.m. and a Shepherd’s Mass at 10 p.m. featuring the Parish Choir on Christmas Eve. A Nativity of the Lord Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Christmas Day.

The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God (holy day of obligation) Mass will also be held on New Year’s Eve at 4:30 p.m. and on New Year’s Day at 9:30 a.m.

Floresville

The First Lutheran Church, 830-393-2747, will offer worship services on Christmas Eve at the area nursing homes, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Regency Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, followed by a 10:30 a.m. service in Floresville Residence & Rehab Center, and a candlelight service in the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home at 1:30 p.m. Worship services will also be held in the church at 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 830-393-6117, will have a children’s Christmas Mass and pageant at 6 p.m. and midnight Mass. On Dec. 25, Solemnity Masses will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. A Vigil Mass will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, followed by New Year’s Day Masses at 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

The First Baptist Church, 830-216-4946, will hold worship services on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Additionally, a candlelight service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24.

The Floresville United Methodist Church, 830-393-2425, will hold a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m.

The Oak Hills Community Church, 830-216-2273, will hold worship services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, with Bible study at 9:15 a.m. Both services will include a Children’s Christmas Drama. A Lord’s Supper Service will be held on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. A worship service will also be held on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m. with Bible study at 9:15 a.m.

Hobson

The St. Boniface Catholic Church, 830-780-3559, will hold a Christmas Eve Mass at 6 p.m. and a Christmas Day Mass at 8 a.m.

Karnes City

The St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 830-780-3947, will hold Mass at 8 p.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Fashing and a 6 p.m. and midnight Mass at St. Cornelius. Christmas Day Mass will be at 9 a.m. in Karnes City. New Year’s Day Mass will be at 9 a.m.

Kosciusko

St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 830-745-2541, will celebrate Koledy at 2:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 3 p.m. and Children’s Mass at 10 p.m. Mass will be held at 8 a.m. on Christmas Day.

Mass will be held at 5:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve and at 8 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

La Vernia

The La Vernia United Methodist Church, 830-779-2621, will hold candlelight services at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. A Blue Christmas uplifting service will be at 8:30 p.m. for those who have lost a loved one or are alone during the holidays.

St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 830-779-3131, will hold a Children’s Mass at 4 p.m. and a bilingual midnight Mass. Christmas Day Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.

On New Year’s Eve, Mass will be held at 7 p.m. and at 9:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

The Immanuel Lutheran Church, 830-253-8121, will hold Holy Communion and candlelight services at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Christmas Day service with communion will be at 10 a.m.

The Life Church of La Vernia, 830-534-6640, will hold a Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m.

Grace Bible Church, 830-779-5200, welcomes everyone to its Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m.

New Berlin

The Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek, 830-303-4669, will have services at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 29, they will have a Christmas Hymnsing service at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Panna Maria

The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 830-780-2748, is planning a 5 p.m. Mass at the St. Helena’s Mission Church and a midnight Mass in Panna Maria. A Christmas Day Mass will be at 9 a.m. in Panna Maria.

A New Year’s Eve Mass will be held at 5 p.m. and on New Year’s Day at 9 a.m.

Poth

The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 830-484-3302, will have Mass at 6 p.m. with a Children’s Play and another Mass at midnight. On Christmas Day, Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m.

On Dec. 31, Mass will be held at 6 p.m. and on New Year’s Day at 9:30 a.m.

The St. John Lutheran Church, 830-484-3691, will hold a Children’s Program on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 8:30 a.m. and caroling at 5 p.m.

Christmas Eve services will be at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. A Christmas Day service will be held at 8:30 a.m.

San Antonio

The Resurrection United Methodist Church, 210-649-2636, invites all to its Christmas Eve candlelight worship service at 6:30 p.m.

Saspamco

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 210-635-8539, will hold a Christmas Day Mass at 10 a.m. as well as a New Year’s Mass at 10 a.m. on Jan. 1.

St. Hedwig

The Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 210-667-1232, will have a 5 p.m. and midnight Mass with caroling at 11:30 p.m. Mass will also be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Dec. 25.

A Vigil Mass will be held at 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve. Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. New Year’s Day.

Stockdale

The Christ United Methodist Church, 830-996-3007, will have a Children’s Christmas Pageant at 4 p.m. followed by its Candles and Carols service.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 830-996-3415, will celebrate Mass at 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and midnight. Christmas Day Mass will be at 9 a.m.

New Year’s Eve Mass will be at 5 p.m. followed by New Year’s Day Mass at 10 a.m. and noon.

Sutherland Springs

The First Baptist Church, 830-947-3333, will hold a candlelight service at 6 p.m.

A hayride with caroling will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m.
