Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's degree recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and cannot be employed as a peace officer or work as a reserve or volunteer peace officer. Ballots for the March 4, 2014, primary continue taking shape, following the filing deadline for candidates for offices from U.S. senator to justice of the peace.

Voters will select Republican and Democratic candidates from the fields of hopefuls. Those who are victorious in the primary win the nominations of their respective parties and will appear on the ballot on Election Day Nov. 4.
