FLORESVILLE -- It now will be up to the Floresville City Council to approve the city’s first-ever land-use plan, following a favorable recommendation by the Floresville Planning and Zoning Commission during a special meeting Dec. 18.

The meeting included a public hearing that was attended only by four commission members, along with Cyndi Nichols of the city’s Permits and Code Compliance Office, Chris Stewart of Stewart Planning and Consulting, and a Wilson County News reporter. No members of the general public were present, although the commission had hoped to gauge input from residents on the plan that could guide Floresville’s growth through the year 2035.

Also during the meeting, the board approved the accompanying ordinance related to the plan. Also crucial to its future implementation, Stewart said, is amending city ordinances related to zoning and off-street parking and loading.

I watched a small portion of the meeting but I was so overwhelmed with the efficient preparation and the grazing of the participants during the meeting, that I was not able to concentrate and abandoned the viewing.
