PLANO, TX, December 27, 2013 -- Today, Department of Veterans Affairs responded to Liberty Institute’s demand letter on behalf of Susan Chapman, a teacher and organizer of a Christmas card project for veterans.

To view a copy of the VA’s response to Liberty Institute, go here: http://www.libertyinstitute.org/document.doc?id=125.

The Liberty Institute said: “In the response, the VA admits that they are banning kids from freely giving veterans Christmas Cards that say Christmas." The Liberty Institute interprets such screening for religious content to be unlawful.

The regulation referenced by the VA in its response says that veterans will only be given a "holiday" card that says "Christmas" if the veteran actually requests such a card on their own.

To view a copy of the policy referenced by the VA, go here: http://www.libertyinstitute.org/document.doc?id=124. The VA’s policy of banning Christmas cards unless a veteran specifically asks for a Christmas card is not only unlawful, it is patently silly, according to the Liberty Institute, which is continuing its investigation of this incident as well as numerous others in various VA facilities.

Liberty Institute is a national nonprofit group dedicated to defending and restoring religious liberty across America -- in schools, churches and throughout the public arena. Liberty’s vision is to reestablish religious liberty in accordance with the principles of our Founding Fathers. For information, visit http://www.LibertyInstitute.org.

Senior Citizen....Thanks....I really don't put much stock in persons who make a living pretending to be someone else. You can never know when they are pretending to be themselves. Happy New Year.
