Offer condolences


Jerald “Jerry” Layton Jr. of Karnes City, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, after an intensive battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 3, 1971, to Jerald and Ina Fay Layton.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his uncle, Albert Kruger.

Jerry is survived by his partner, Carol Spring; aunt Mildred Krueger Emmons; sisters Gwendolyn Layton and Sheila Brewster; brothers Jim Layton, Jesse Covington Jr., Craig Covington, Bruce Covington, and Steve Covington; many nieces and nephews; and many other family members.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City.

Memorial donations may be made in Jerry’s name to the American Cancer Society.
