Lora Mills Adcock, a lifelong resident of Wilson County, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at 2:37 a.m. in her residence in Floresville at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 14 days. Lora was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Wilson County, the daughter of Willie Lee and Clara Cox Mills.

She attended school in Sutherland Springs and was a homemaker. Lora married Joseph Franklin Adcock on March 23, 1938, in Sutherland Springs. Joseph, Lora’s beloved husband of more than 66 years, preceded her in death on June 13, 2004. She loved being at home and taking care of her family. Being a loving wife and mother was her greatest joy. Lora was a member of the Sutherland Springs Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many faithful years. Lora loved to work in her yard, and enjoyed sewing and cooking. Later, as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, her favorite pastime was spending long hours playing, reading, singing, hugging, and loving them. The family extends great appreciation to Marina Garza for years of caretaking and to Dr. Currier and the staff at Nurses In Touch.

Lora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Adcock; her son, Joseph Wayne Adcock; her great-grandson, Sage McCloskey; and all her siblings.

She is survived by her children, June McCloskey and husband R.B. and Ginger Adcock, all of Floresville; her grandchildren, Matthew McCloskey and Melissa Barfield and husband Anthony, all of Floresville; her great-grandchildren, Tristan McCloskey, Lucas Barfield, Katlyn Barfield, and Justin Barfield; and her nephew, George Mills Jr.

Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 27, at 3 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Pastor Donnie McCarter.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Lucas Barfield, Justin Barfield, Melissa Barfield, Matt McCloskey, Jimmy Garza, Keith Minica, and Tristan McCloskey.
