FLORESVILLE -- Northbound traffic coming into Floresville via U.S. 181 is being diverted onto U.S. 181 Business as law-enforcement officials conduct their investigation into a police pursuit and subsequent crash that occurred just before 1 p.m. Jan. 2.

The suspects -- 20-year-old Jordan Martinez and 21-year-old Amaris Martin, both of Beeville -- sustained injuries when their Jeep Wrangler rolled at least four times after striking the rear of a Ford F-250 pickup truck near the intersection of U.S. 181 and Crow Hill Road just south of Floresville. The two were transported from the scene by the Wilson County Emergency Medical Services to the Connally Memorial Medical Center. A hospital spokesman said Martin is being treated, but Martinez was flown to another hospital via AirLife helicopter.

Karnes County Sheriff Dwayne Villanueva said that someone at 12:38 p.m. reported seeing a reckless driver near the Walmart Supercenter on U.S. 181 in Kenedy. Karnes County Deputy Amanda Fanning and Investigator Troy Phillips then began pursuing a black Jeep Wrangler north toward Wilson County, at speeds of up to 95 mph.

The investigation is ongoing.
