1961-2014

On the morning of Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, surrounded by family and friends, Steve went home to be with his Lord after a long and lengthy battle with cancer and multiple sclerosis; he kept fighting to the end. He was born on Nov. 23, 1961, to Eddie Charles and Betty Louise Arendt Digges Stocks.

Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved sharing these activities with his children and grandchildren. Steve was a very godly man leaning on his faith, confident that a place was prepared for him in heaven. Loved by many and missed by all, Steve left this world with love surrounding him and peace within him. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs at Cancer Care Center of South Texas in New Braunfels, Christus Santa Rosa hospital in New Braunfels, and Odyssey Hospice of San Marcos, and all of the “Team Steve” prayer warriors around the world from the bottom of their hearts.

He was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents; his father-in-law, Bobby Wyndell Russell; and granddaughter Madalynn LaNeese Leasman.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Tamlyn Jill Russell Stocks; his children, James “Rusty” Leasman and wife LaDawn Curry of Woodville, Brett Ryan Leasman and wife Ana Paula of San Antonio, and Carin Stocks Kopecki and husband Garrett Joseph of Poth; his parents, Eddie Charles Stocks and Betty Louise Arendt Digges Stocks of San Antonio; his sister, Cheryl Stocks Vestal and husband Leonard of Spring Branch; his grandchildren, Katy, Jillian, Ryan, and Brax; aunts Linda Wolfe and husband Jake and Joyce Jenschke and husband Clinton; uncle Edward C. Digges Jr. and wife Pauline; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale, Texas.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel.

Interment will follow in the Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church of Stockdale; Multiple Sclerosis Society; or the American Cancer Society.
