Don Setliff, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in his home in Nixon, Texas. He was born Jan. 6, 1940, in Robstown to Norman and Rosa Mae (Dow) Setliff.

Don had a career of more than 47 years in law enforcement. In 2005, he was elected as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 in Gonzales County, where he served for more than eight years until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Setliff Wootan; and a son, Russell Gibson.

Don is survived by his wife, Isabel (Mendoza) Setliff of Nixon; his children, Dona Zerr and husband James of Seguin, Anna Juarez and Manuel Juarez, both of Nixon, and Randy Stuart Eckols of Mexia; his grandchildren, Chasity Thomas of Houston, Brice Whitehead and Cody Joe Whitehead, both of Gonzales, Alex Setliff and Maddie Gonzales, both of Nixon, Austin McDonald of San Marcos, and Tanner Wootan of North Dakota; great-grandchild Ayden Stautzenberger of Nixon; his sister, Judy Billings and husband Freddy of Nixon; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Richardson Christian Center in Nixon.
