1938-2014

Fred J. Lyssy, 75, of Falls City, Texas, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Floresville. He was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Falls City to Adela Dziuk and Vincent Lyssy Sr.

Fred was a dairy farmer and rancher. He served in the U.S. Army for several years. He was an active member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, where he led the rosary and was a member of the rosary circle. He had also been the chairman of the Falls City picnic for many years.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Geraldine McLaurin, Lorraine Wiatrek, and two infant sisters; and brothers Arthur, Cleo, and Leo Lyssy.

He is survived by his children, Caroline Korzekwa and Charlie White, Sandra Rich and husband Robert, and Angela Wilson and husband Jessie, all of Falls City, Susanna Moczygemba and husband Larry of Aledo, Fred Lyssy Jr. and wife Amber of Floresville, Pamela Centeno and husband Kenny of Seguin, and Katie Garza and husband Fidel of Laredo; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Evelyn Pollok of Adkins and Wilma Kotara and Mary Rose Pawlik, both of San Antonio; and brother Vincent Lyssy Jr. and wife Joann of Falls City.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 4 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Falls City Cemetery in Falls City.

Serving as pallbearers were Fidel Garza, Fred Lyssy Jr., Ryan Korzekwa, Ricky Moczygemba, Devon Gorzell, Jordan Gorzell, and Cameron Wilson.
