FLORESVILLE -- Calls from motorists Jan. 2 about a stopped vehicle on F.M. 1303 near the intersection of C.R. 155 resulted in the recovery of 31 grams of methamphetamine.

According to Investigator Stephen Moore of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Toribio “Toby” Garcia responded to the scene at approximately 6 a.m. to discover 34-year-old Jeremy Ryan Cotton of Floresville asleep in a vehicle that was parked in the middle of the road.

As a result of Garcia’s investigation, Cotton was arrested and charged with manufacture and delivery of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of more than 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds of marijuana, and possession of less than 28 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 3.

Cotton was transported to the Wilson County Jail, where Wilson County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Richard “Dickie” Jackson set his total bond at $61,500. Cotton remained in custody as of press time Jan. 6.
