Offer condolences


Earl C. Dowd III of Floresville, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, after a battle with cancer. He was born on Jan. 30, 1944, in Roanoke, Va., to Earl and Helen (Pring) Dowd Jr.

Earl worked as an electrician at Bexar Electric of San Antonio. He loved fishing, building houses, decks, gazebos, and Christian crafts of wood. He especially loved preaching, teaching Bible study, and singing the Gospel with his family and a host of friends. Earl was a singer, songwriter, bass guitar player, and a former pastor in Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Curtis) Dowd of Floresville; sisters Barbara Marrs and husband Wayne of Pipe Creek and Rosemary Zurovec and husband Terry and Nancy Ibach, all of Seguin; children Faye Michelle Frazier and Tiffany Dowd, both of Floresville, and Jana D. Hilburn and Jason A. Hilburn, both of San Antonio; grandsons B.J., Brian, Christian, Gavyn, and Xavier; granddaughters Pantera Case and Leia Love Selman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Glory Bound Baptist Church in Elmendorf, officiated by Pastor Bill Baker.
