Francisco ‘Frank’ Benavidez

1969-2014

Francisco “Frank” Benavidez passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in Seguin, Texas, at the age of 44 years, 11 months, and 4 days. He was born Jan. 31, 1969, in Floresville to Jesus Deleon and Amada Avalos Benavidez. He was a lifelong resident of Nixon. Frank served in the Gulf War in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alcario “Cali” Benavidez and Henry Benavidez.

Frank is survived by his sisters, Minnie Freeman and husband Gary of Leesville, Irma Garcia and husband Jesse of Nixon, Nancy Amaya of Nixon, and Norma Benavidez Riojas of Seguin; brothers Jesse Benavidez and wife Angie of Missouri City, Robert Benavidez and wife Jennifer of Bay City, Joe Benavidez of Bay City, Alex Benavidez and wife Stacey of Delphos, Ohio, Patrick Benavidez and wife Melissa of Nixon, and Charles Benavidez of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Philip Catholic Church in Smiley with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Nixon.

Interment followed in the Latin American Cemetery in Nixon.

Serving as pallbearers were Josh Garcia, Cody Benavidez, Sylvester “Bubby” Fatheree, Tom Palacio III, Chris Leal, Jesse Leal, Joey Leal, and Adam Yanes. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Henry Aaron Benavidez.
