Regina Cielencki Stanush, 85, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. She was born on Sept. 7, 1928, in Adkins, Texas, to Michael and Elizabeth (Sowa) Cielencki.

Regina was a homemaker, expert seamstress, and was manager at the Martinez Social Club. Regina was the last surviving member of the Michael Cielencki family. She retired from Borden Milk and she also worked at Joske’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry Stanush; two infant sons, Jerome Jr. and Adam; grandson C.J. Carmichael; sisters Eugena Weichold, Maggie Little, Josephine Watts, and Louise Martin; brother Raymond; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Regina is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Carmichael and husband Steve; granddaughter Chelsea Carmichael; great-granddaughter Beretta Ebbitt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 5-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the St. Jerome Catholic Church in San Antonio, officiated by the Rev. Rudolpho Caballero.

Interment followed in the St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery in San Antonio.
