Stockdale News: Press box, stands find new home
Work begins on the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce project, as two large cranes lift the Stockdale Bobby Russell Field press box. Its final destination will be the Stockdale City Park rodeo grounds.
The Stockdale Chamber of Commerce project continues, according to the chamber’s president, Sherry D. Lambeck.
The Stockdale Independent School District was planning to demolish the existing bleachers and press box at the football stadium before commencing with the new track project. The contractors told the chamber that the group could have the bleachers and press box if the chamber paid to have it all moved.
The chamber is in the process of moving everything and setting it up in the rodeo arena, to replace the old bleachers and press box that were there.
The Stockdale Chamber of Commerce budgeted $20,000 for this improvement to the Stockdale City Park and has also received $4,000 in hotel/motel tax funds from the city of Stockdale to aid in the project.
Also, the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce has donated $300 to Kash for Kids at the Wilson County Junior Livestock Show and would like to wish all participants good luck in the show!
The next Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Stockdale Economic Development Corp. office.
