Once again the horse show will begin the Wilson County Junior Livestock Show Saturday, Jan. 18, at noon in the Wilson County Show Barn, located off S.H. 97 east of Floresville. This event kicks off the 2014 county show, with the auction set for Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Floresville Event Center, located at 600 S.H. 97 W. in Floresville.

Halter classes for mares and geldings will be shown. Classes will be broken down in the following divisions: yearling to the 2-year-old halter; 3- to 5-year-old halter; and aged halter horses.

The halter show will be followed by showmanship, in-hand trail, and stock horse pleasure.

Showmanship will be held in three divisions -- junior (ages 8-11); intermediate (ages 12-14); and senior (ages 15-18).

All Wilson County 4-H and FFA members are eligible to participate.

The horse show judge is well-versed and will judge the breeds, such as quarter horse, Arabian, and draft breeds, such as Clydesdales, according to the breed standards. These include soundness and composition. It will be similar to the heifer judging that is conducted during the show.

Horse set-up is set for Friday, Jan. 17, with check-in set for Saturday from 9-11 a.m.

For more information about the horse show, call Jennifer Fuller-Miksch at 979-743-0303.

The remainder of the Wilson County Junior Livestock Show is Wednesday through Saturday, Jan. 22-25.

For more information regarding the auction, contact Mark Wehe at 830-484-3314.
