NASCAR veteran driver Dave Blaney will be inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame on May 31, 2014, in Knoxville, Iowa. Before making the move to NASCAR, Blaney was a top competitor in World of Outlaws competition, claiming the 1995 championship. He also finished second in the series standings four times and is eighth on the WoO all-time wins list.

Other 2014 nominees into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame include Bobby Davis Jr., Mark Kinser, Chuck Merrill, George Nesler, Dave Argabright, William McDonald and Larray Beckett.

After success in sprint cars, Blaney made the Move to NASCAR in the late 1990s, competing regularly at the Busch (now-Nationwide) level in 1998 and making the move to full-time Winston (now-Sprint) Cup racing in 200. Blaney has a single Nationwide Series win, coming in 2006 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. His best finish at the Cup level is third, a position in which he’s finished three times, most recently at Talladega Superspeedway in 2011.

For the last three years, Blaney has driven a Sprint Cup car for Tommy Baldwin Racing, but lost that ride to Michael Annett at the end of the 2013 race season. Blaney has said that he has no plans, as of now, to drive in NASCAR in 2014. He has, however, hinted at a return to sprint car racing.
