Farm Bureau scholarship opportunities available
Information and applications for the 2014 Texas Farm Bureau Scholarships have been placed on the Texas Farm Bureau website. The website contains information concerning four separate scholarship opportunities provided by Texas Farm Bureau.
Three of these scholarships -- The Young Farmer & Rancher, Dick Mitchell, and the District Scholarship -- are for high school students who have not yet graduated. The fourth scholarship -- The Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarships for Enrolled Students -- is for college students who are pursuing degrees in agriculture and who have completed a minimum of 45 hours of college credit.
In addition, one of the District Scholarships in each Texas Farm Bureau District has been designated as a Memorial/Honorary Scholarship. This scholarship has been increased to $1,200 and will be awarded to the highest-ranking applicant in each district. Each of these scholarships must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 10. Applications for these scholarships can be found on the Youth and Education page of the Texas Farm Bureau website at www.txfb.org.
At the local level, once again Wilson County Farm Bureau will offer six $500 scholarship awards. Applicant’s parents or legal guardian must be current members of Wilson County Farm Bureau. Applicants must also be a confirmed senior in high school in order to qualify for the scholarship award. Applicant must attend a two- or four-year accredited college or vocational/technical school. The deadline for this application is Monday, April 14. Information and applications for this award are not available online but can be obtained at the Wilson County Farm Bureau office in Floresville and La Vernia or by calling 830-393-2481.
