PANDORA -- A Tyler woman is charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit other felony and injury to a child, following an incident here Jan. 21. The suspect is identified as 45-year-old Rosa Cruz.

Investigator Stephen Moore of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said a witness called 911 just before 5 p.m. to report that a 21-year-old woman and her two young children had been forcibly placed in a truck after they were removed from a travel trailer in Pandora by Cruz -- identified as the victim’s mother -- her parents, and the resident’s ex-boyfriend. During the altercation, a woman and her 13-year-old daughter tried to assist the victims. Cruz allegedly pushed the teen as she attempted to use the camera on her iPhone to photograph the truck’s license plate. The family then fled north on U.S. 87, where troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety intercepted them in La Vernia.

Jail records indicate that Wilson County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Richard “Dickie” Jackson set Cruz’s total bond at $50,000, which she posted before her Jan. 22 release. She faces up to life in prison, if convicted.
