Kash for Kids builds foundation for tomorrow’s leaders

After months of preparation, members of the area FFA and 4-H clubs will be exhibiting their animals in the Wilson County Junior Livestock Show, in anticipation of selling them in the sale of champions auction to be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Floresville Event Center, located at 600 S.H. 97 W.

The hospitality booth will be available Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. Sales sheets will be available for review at that time. A pledge of $500 is required to enter the hospitality area.

The premium sale is a showcase of the elite projects that have exhibited at the show, according to Kash For Kids organizers.

Businesses and individuals are invited to participate by donating toward the program. In exchange, the businesses and individuals are recognized for their donations.

This year, Kash for Kids will provide $7,200 in scholarships for breeding show champions and $4,000 in scholarships to seniors, for a grand total of $11,200.

Kash for Kids, now in its 10th year, is made up of all volunteers. Committee members include Gerald Eckel, John Yow, Joe Ebrom, Justin Kotzur, Sheila Gilmore, Eddie Alsobrook, Nancy Kolodziej, Trudy Jones, and Fabian Jarzombek.

The Wilson County Junior Livestock Show will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, through Friday, Jan. 24, in the Wilson County Show Barn, located on S.H. 97 east of Floresville.
