Karnes/Wilson Juvenile Probation Department is seeking the following positions: Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. Position is year round supervising juvenile offenders, making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Attendance/Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. The Attendance Officer works same hours as the school districts providing prevention services to children and parents who have issues with truancy. Juvenile Probation Officer will manage a small caseload of juvenile offenders making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Position is year round.  Individual must be versatile and able to separate prevention from intervention skills. Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor within the environment of the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Follows JJAEP school calendar. This is a quasi-military program, so prior military experience a plus. Degreed individual preferred with experience working with children. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or be able to obtain the certification. Administrative Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor but takes on administrative assistant role to the Assistant Chief within the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Position will include direct contact with the child and parent. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or able to obtain. Prefer degreed individual. Must have knowledge of military procedures. 55th annual South Texas Trail Ride hits the road this week

On the road again with the South Texas Trail Riders, of Corpus Christi on their 55th Annual Trail Ride to the 65th Annual San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

This year the trail ride will kick-off on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Edcot Gin, in Edroy. The registration will start at 2:00 P.M. -- 9:00 P.M, so come on out and sign up with us.

The 2014 Trail Ride is dedicated to the loving memory of those trail riders who have passed away: Doug Grover of Sandia, Past President, Advisory Board Director; Kasper “Kapp” Mutz, of Hobson, trail rider for many years; Joe Ysasi trail rider for many years; Gary Dedman from Gillett, wagoneer; and Ray Garza, trail ride for years.

2013-2014 South Texas Trail Ride Queen, Sheridan Wilson from Robstown, Sweetheart, Kimberly Atchley from Orange Grove and Mascot, Corina Romike, Orange Grove.

Trail Boss, Arlis Young, Asst. Trail Bosses; Michael Dunn and Ray Garcia, and Honorary Trail Bosses, George Camp and Terry Reichel; Wagon Boss, Virgil W. The 55th Annual trail ride will be riding out on Friday, January 31, from Edcot Gin, and travel the back roads to the Tynan Recreation Center with big dance with Bobby Marquez with cover charge at the door. So if you like dance come out and have good time with us.

Saturday, Feb. 1, we ride out at 8:00 A.M. the trail said good by Tynan and hello to Skidmore and Beeville. The lunch is at the Skidmore Fire Dept. and this stop will be a panoramic group picture taken of the trail ride for the 55th Annual year. The trail will be arriving at 4:15 P.M.at the Beeville Coliseum Campsite. This year there will be a “Bull Bash” of 30 head of bulls vs. Texas Cowboys, produced by K-3 Bucking Bulls. The Bulls Bash gates open at 6:00 P.M. at the Bee County Coliseum Area at 214 FM 351, Beeville. There will be a cover charge at the gate. Sunday, Feb. 2, said good bye Beeville at 8:00 A.M. and travel the back road to Pettus by the way of the back roads of Bee County. On Sunday night is the Big Super Bowl game.

Monday, Feb. 3, leaving out of Pettus at 8:00 A.M. and traveling the back roads to the Karnes County Show Barn midway Kenedy -- Karnes City. Monday night we have game night for the kids and adults and whole South Texas Trail Ride Raffle.

Fat Tuesday, Feb. 4, the trail ride will ride out of Karnes County Show at 9:00 A.M. and travel to the City of Karnes City Maintenance Barn for lunch. The trail will be coming into City of Falls City at 4:00 P.M. if traffic is OK. The Falls City Chamber of Commerce will be have big Bar-Q-Bar supper for all the trail ride and town folks. Supper will be serving at 6:00 -- 7:30 P.M. and big dance starts at 7:30 P.M. with the music of “Cactus County”, there will be a cover charge at the door for the dance. So come out dance with us and public is invite to the dance.
Thank you Karnes County folks for the great meals and wonderful hospitality, we like to thank the Friends of Karnes City great desserts with our lunch and good sausage lunch.

Wednesday, Feb. 5, the trail will be leaving Falls City at 8:00 A.M. and the way to the Poth VFW Hal for lunch provided by the Poth Chamber of Commerce. The trail rides love to see the school kids of the Poth ISD to get their letters and have their picture taken with the kids. The ride will arrive at the Wilson County Show Barn for great meal cook by the “Craig Mutz , Rick Vocur and the Floresville Boys”. At 8:00 P.M. is the big dance with Bobby Marquez, this dance is open to the public. So come out joy the fun. We would like to thank all the great folks of Wilson County for their hospitality.

Thursday, Feb. 6, leaving out at 8:00 A.M from the Wilson County Show Barn and having lunch at the E-Z Stop at U.S. Hwy 181 and FM 775, the trail ride will arrive at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Posse Arena at 4:00 P.M. Supper will be serve at 6:00 P.M. -- 7:30 P.M. and at 7:30 P.M. is the Annual STTR Awards Ceremony for 2014.

Friday, Feb. 7, leaving out at 8:00 A.M. from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Posse Arena and having lunch at the Wal-Mart parking lot at I-410 East and arrive at the Bexar County Junior Livestock Show Grounds and at 5:00 P.M. is the end of the trail Party and Dance for all the trail riders and introduction of all the trail bosses and queens from the other rides.

So mark your calendar and come on out and see the queen, mascot, sweetheart, wagons, buggies, and riders.

You failed to mention that the Floresville Chamber of Commerce will be at the Showbarn at 5.30am on Thursday 6th providing breakfast taco's and orange juice.
