ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Helen Mae (Bennett) Hicks was born July 1, 1933, to David G. and Elgia Emma (Howton) Bennett. She passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the age of 80 years.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry Scott Hicks Sr.; siblings Houston Mix, Lola Mae Lange, Robert Leroy Bennett, and Norma Jean Evans.

She is survived by her son, Henry Scott Hicks Jr. and wife Celesta; daughter Juanita S. Hicks; grandchildren Eric W. Hicks and wife Tonya M. and Janet C. Hicks; great-grandchildren Taylor, Riley, Regan, and Liam; sibling Norman Edward Bennett and wife Willis; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, from 1-2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel, officiated by Pastor John Nelson Evans.

Interment will follow in the Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale, Texas.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
