Ida Mae Biela Stanush Schneider, a resident of Poth, Texas, entered eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 7 days. Ida was born June 16, 1935, in Wilson County, the daughter of Alois and Mary Kopecki Biela.

She attended Kosciusko schools and was a homemaker. Ida married George Theodore Stanush on Oct. 16, 1954, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1992. Ida married Leo B. Schneider on June 17, 1995. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 8555 in Poth. Ida loved taking care of others and held many jobs in her lifetime, including owning and operating a small café in Poteet, working at the post office, and working in the school cafeteria.

Ida was preceded in death by her first husband, George Theodore Stanush; and her siblings, Florian Biela, Bernadine Urbanczyk, Daniel Biela, Jesse Biela, and Gus Biela.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 18 years, Leo Schneider of Poth; her daughters, Sandra Haley and husband David of Poteet and Florence Stanush of Pleasanton; her stepsons, Timmy Schneider and wife Josie of Poth and Terry Schneider of Poth; her grandchildren, John David Haley of Poteet, Ashley Horn and husband Christopher of Poteet, Danelle Schneider of San Antonio, Tristan Schneider of Dallas, Taylor Schneider of Poth, and Jordan Schneider of Poth; and her siblings, Lewis Biela, Clarence Biela, Philomena Lyssy, Alvin Biela, Felix Biela, Gladys Maha, and Apolonia Kosub.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 4:30 p.m., followed by a recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk.

Interment followed in the Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet.

Serving as pallbearers were Chris Horn, John David Haley, Timmy Schneider, Terry Schneider, Gus Cavazos, and Shawn Biela.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 8555, P.O. Box 421, Poth, TX 78147.
