Ruth Cecilia Jarzombek Kutac
Ruth Cecilia Jarzombek Kutac was born the oldest child to Jacob and Annie (Sekula) Jarzombek on Nov. 26, 1916. Ruth left this world late Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the age of 97.
As a young child, Ruth lived on a family farm in Poth, Texas. She attended school in Poth and did what most children at that time did -- she worked hard in the fields alongside her brother, Alfred, and her sisters, Pearl, Eleanora, Sylvia, and Magdalen. As a young woman, she worked in San Antonio as a housekeeper.
On Aug. 21, 1949, she married Lee Kutac after he returned from service in World War II. Ruth and Lee had five children (including twins) in five years. Lee and Ruth raised their own animals and grew their own garden, canning the vegetables to provide for their family. Ruth was known for her homemade noodles, kolaches, chiffon cakes, cookies, pies, and chicken and dumplings. She also made beautiful hand-pieced quilts and baby quilts.
Ruth was a devout member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She spent countless hours volunteering her time as an Altar Society member. She also volunteered at the Floresville Nursing and Rehab Center, where she later became a resident. Ruth and Lee were both charter members of the Wilson County VFW Post 8555 and the Ladies Auxiliary. They volunteered many hours supporting their members and the community. In 1995, Ruth entered the Floresville Nursing and Rehab Center, where she lived for eight years. During those years, the residents and the staff became a part of her extended family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Kutac; her sisters, Pearl Kroll, Sylvia Skloss, and Magdalen Suchy; her great-grandchild, Kade Bordovsky; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willie, Annie, August, Emil, and Justina Kutac, Bessie and Frank Ullmann, Lillie and Tony Wilchek, Adela and Clarence Roberts, and John Kroll, Clyde Young, Joe Skloss, and Johnny Suchy.
She is survived by her children, Aileen (Ernest) Jendrusch, Raymond (Jackie) Kutac, Leroy Kutac, Dianne (Wilfred) Dziuk, and Agnes (Edwin) Moy; 15 grandchildren, Brandon, Craig, and Douglas Jendrusch, Cody and Chance Kutac and Candice Shrout, Jason and Jonathan Kutac and Marcia Bordovsky, Kevin, Kory, and Kimberly Dziuk and Jill Pawelek, and Lindsay Griffith and Kayci MacLauchlan; 20 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Caden, Abigail, Ashlyn, Gentry, Kevin, and Kynzie Jendrusch, Lola Shrout and Coy Kutac, Kelsey and Kurt Bordovsky, Kaleb and Kylee Kutac, Tyler, Audrey, and Kaylee Pawelek, and Brianna, Marissa, and Dylan MacLauchlan, all of whom she loved dearly; and her sister and brother, Eleanora Young and Alfred (Proxie) Jarzombek.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 5:30 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk.
Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.
Serving as pallbearers were Ruth’s grandsons, Brandon, Craig, and Douglas Jendrusch, Cody and Chance Kutac, Jason and Jonathan Kutac, and Kevin and Kory Dziuk.
