According to Trooper Cory Holmes Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Leonel Cantu of Freer lost control of a 2014 Peterbilt tanker truck, which caused the vehicle to overturn. Orlando Mireles, 44, of Kenedy, who was driving a 2012 Kenworth that was towing a full-sized tanker trailer, clipped the overturned truck while attempting to avoid it and momentum sent his vehicle off the roadway.
Both drivers, along with Cantu's passenger -- 29-year-old Eliseo Medina of Freer -- were transported to Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital in Kenedy. Holmes said all three have been treated and released.
Cantu has been issued a citation for unsafe speed.
