Asa G. Fuller III
Asa G. Fuller III, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at 6:05 a.m. in the Nix Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 73 years and 25 days. Asa was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Floresville, the son of Hattie Sue Smith and Asa G. Fuller Jr.
After graduation from Floresville High School, class of 1959, Asa attended Southwest Texas in San Marcos, and later became the first “pro” football player to hail from Wilson County. Asa married Gail Starnes on July 12, 1963, in Floresville. He worked as a probation officer with the 81st and 218th Judicial Districts in Wilson County for 23 years. Asa loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed seeing many of their sporting events over the years. He loved running his horses, and was an active member of the Floresville Masonic Lodge No. 515 and Floresville Chapter No. 271 Order of the Eastern Star for many faithful years. Asa was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Floresville.
Asa was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Gail Fuller of Floresville; his children, Terri Gail Seidel and husband Randy of Aransas Pass, Asa Ralph Fuller and wife Lara of Westminster, Calif., William Bronson Fuller and wife Wendy of Poth, and Tracie Marie Scheffler and husband Mike of Poth; his grandchildren, Ashley Michalak and husband Mikie, Meagan, Lindsey, Steven, Asa John, Cade, Karli, Dalton, Braeden, Falin, and Rogan; his great-granddaughter, Aubree; and his brothers, Charlie Fuller and wife Jean and and Bert Fuller and wife Kay, all of Floresville.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 5-8 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville. A funeral service was held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Pastor Mike Clements.
Interment followed in the Floresville Masonic Cemetery in Floresville.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jack Garrahan, Robert Miller, Emilio Quintanilla, Richard Ullmann, Chris Kuykendall, and Jack Orts. Serving as pallbearers were Asa Fuller, Bronson Fuller, Monte Fuller, Mark Fuller, Audie Fuller, and Richard Ullmann Jr.
