1929-2014

Conrad “Popo” Joseph Pawelek of Panna Maria, Texas, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the age of 84. He was born July 26, 1929, in Panna Maria, the son of Louis and Annie Janysek Pawelek.

Conrad was a dedicated and loving spouse, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who always gave his love freely to all. His devotion to God and to his family will always be cherished and remembered. Conrad served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He spent 44 years delivering fuel to local farmers and ranchers, and was a loyal farmer as well. Conrad spent many years as a devout and humble servant of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Panna Maria community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Walter; sister Tillie; and infant son, Donald.

Conrad is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ethel Dugie Pawelek; his children, Brenda Felux (Wilbert), Michael Pawelek (Judy), Sharon Robbins (Glen), and Daryl Pawelek (Michelle); grandchildren Chris Felux (Diane), the Rev. Jonathan Felux, Greg Felux (Kandis), Michael Pawelek (Becky), Joseph Pawelek (Casey), David Pawelek, Elizabeth Pawelek, John Pawelek, Ryan Robbins (Erin), Stefanie Roemer (Joel), Alysse Pawelek, Amber Pawelek, and Matthew Pawelek; and great-grandchildren Connor, Coryn, Corbin, Clara, Josh, and Ethan Felux, Cora, Evelyn, and Madeleine Pawelek, and Kasen Robbins.

Visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 3, at 5 p.m. followed by a vigil with rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Jonathan Felux, Conrad’s grandson.

Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery in Panna Maria.
