Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Conrad “Popo” Joseph Pawelek of Panna Maria, Texas, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the age of 84. He was born July 26, 1929, in Panna Maria, the son of Louis and Annie Janysek Pawelek.

Conrad was a dedicated and loving spouse, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who always gave his love freely to all. His devotion to God and to his family will always be cherished and remembered. Conrad served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He spent 44 years delivering fuel to local farmers and ranchers, and was a loyal farmer as well. Conrad spent many years as a devout and humble servant of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Panna Maria community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Walter; sister Tillie; and infant son, Donald.

Conrad is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ethel Dugie Pawelek; his children, Brenda Felux (Wilbert), Michael Pawelek (Judy), Sharon Robbins (Glen), and Daryl Pawelek (Michelle); grandchildren Chris Felux (Diane), the Rev. Jonathan Felux, Greg Felux (Kandis), Michael Pawelek (Becky), Joseph Pawelek (Casey), David Pawelek, Elizabeth Pawelek, John Pawelek, Ryan Robbins (Erin), Stefanie Roemer (Joel), Alysse Pawelek, Amber Pawelek, and Matthew Pawelek; and great-grandchildren Connor, Coryn, Corbin, Clara, Josh, and Ethan Felux, Cora, Evelyn, and Madeleine Pawelek, and Kasen Robbins.

Visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 3, at 5 p.m. followed by a vigil with rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Jonathan Felux, Conrad’s grandson.

Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery in Panna Maria.
