Nesbitt takes helm of urgent care clinic in La Vernia
Mike Nesbitt is the director of Connally Memorial Urgent Care in La Vernia, a joint venture of VEA and Connally Memorial Medical Center which will extend the reach of the Medical Center in Wilson County and bring dedicated state-of-the-art urgent care to the La Vernia area.
Nesbitt is a graduate of the U.S. Army/University of Nebraska Medical Center Interservice Physician Assistant Program class of 1999. He also holds a Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies with a concentration in sports medicine. He received his doctoral degree and attended a residency in emergency medicine through the U.S. Army/Baylor University Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Program.
Nesbitt retired after 26 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Army. He served tours with the 3d Ranger Battalion, the 3d Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 3d Infantry Division during the invasion of Iraq. Additionally he served as the Joint Special Operations Command senior physician assistant and deployed as a mobile surgical team commander to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Nesbitt’s interests include medical education. He has served as the program manager of the Army’s Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant residency and the graduate education manager for all physician assistants in the Army.
His accomplishments include being the recipient of five Bronze Stars and the Legion of Merit. He has conducted original research and published articles in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, Pediatrics in Review, and the Journal of Special Operations Medicine.
Nesbitt was raised in a small town and his true desire is to provide medical care that bridges the gap between a scheduled appointment with your family doctor and a trip to the emergency department in Floresville. He can’t replace your family doctor, but will always be there for you when you need urgent medical care.
The urgent care clinic is located at 13857 U.S. 87 W. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 830-779-2780.
