Blaze devours home near downtown Floresville
First responders arrive Feb. 3 at the scene of a fully engulfed house fire at the corner of Second and E streets in Floresville. Peter and Bea Harwerth — visitors from Canada — who came upon the scene after finishing lunch at P&T Cafeteria a block away, provided the photo.
Officials are investigating the cause of a fire before 2 p.m. Feb. 2 that rendered a home at the corner of Second and E streets in Floresville a total loss.
Firefighters battled high winds as they kept the blaze from spreading to other structures nearby. While there were no injuries, Lt. Chad Clark of the Floresville Police Department said the resident is unable to locate two dogs that might have fled during the blaze. One dog is described as a black Labrador puppy and the other is described as a black pit bull with a white chest. Anyone with information is asked to call the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055.
The Floresville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, where they were assisted by the Wilson County Emergency Medical Services and by fire departments from Poth and Eagle Creek. Floresville Fire Chief Lorenzo Ortiz was unavailable for comment prior to press time Feb. 3.
