EAST CENTRAL -- Following a special meeting here Feb. 10, East Central High School Principal Roland Toscano has been named the lone finalist for the East Central Independent School District superintendent position to be filled later this year.

Gary Patterson, the district’s longtime superintendent, announced his retirement last year, after 14 years with East Central. His last day will be July 1.

Toscano, a graduate of East Central High School, has been employed by the district in various capacities since 1997, and has been the high school principal since 2007.

A 21-day period will be allowed for contract negotiation, and a waiting period must pass before the board takes a final vote.
