1966-2014

William “Billy” Lee Smith of Seguin, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014. He was born Sept. 11, 1966, in San Antonio, the son of Mary Louise Jones.

Billy worked at Acme Brick for more than 14 years as a truck driver. Every year he was awarded the top safety driver award. He loved his job and took pride in it every day. He also worked for Walgreens as a truck driver, where he also received safety driver awards. Truck driving was all Billy every dreamed of doing since he was a very young boy. He loved his job and everyone he met along the way. The best achievement Billy ever received was becoming a father and being able to spend time with his children. He loved his family and his many friends more than life itself. Special thanks to his best friends, Bob Hensley and wife Roxanne, for being by his side with all of his family through his long struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was a strong warrior and fought the never-ending battle. He was truly the most courageous and loving man we have ever known. Rest in peace, Billy, said his family.

Billy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary M. and Arvel B. Jackson Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Louise Jones; his children, Ashley Rae Smith, Amber Dawn Smith, and Zachery Taylor; his sister, Laura Kimberly Jones Bonillas and husband Bobby; and nieces and nephews Daniel William Villarreal, Amanda Villarreal, Cheryl Ducharme, Julia Ducharme, Wayne Rutledge Jr., Charity Rutledge, and Faith Rutledge.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 5-9 p.m. in the Palmer Mortuary in Seguin.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the mortuary.

Interment will follow in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Ste. 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266; or www.pancan.com.
