Lillian Moczygemba Janik
Lillian Moczygemba Janik, a lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, entered eternal rest Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at 8:38 p.m. in her residence in Poth at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 8 days. Lillian was born March 26, 1927, in Stockdale, the daughter of Sylvester and Geneva Broll Moczygemba.
After graduation from Poth High School, Lillian worked with Colonial Bakery in San Antonio for many years. Lillian married Paul John Janik on Feb. 26, 1946, in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, where they both were lifelong members. Paul, Lillian’s beloved husband of more than 53 years, preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1999. Lillian was a faithful member of the Blessed Sacrament Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Janik; her granddaughter, Sherri Vontur; her great-grandson, Kade Bordovsky; and her sister-in-law, Olivia Moczygemba.
Lillian is survived by her children, Elaine Vontur and husband James of Floresville, Sharon Bordovsky of Poth, Carolyn Kroll of New York City, N.Y., and James Janik and wife Gwen of Corpus Christi; her grandsons, Steven Vontur and wife Jill of Pearland, Timothy Kroll of New Hope, Pa., Edward Bordovsky Jr. and wife Marcia of Riviera, James Adair of Corpus Christi, and Travis Adair of Corpus Christi; her granddaughters, Amy Cardillo and husband Paul of New York City, Deanne Pape and husband Carl of Poth, and Stephanie Hedgecoxe and husband Sean of Brighton, Colo.; 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Gladys Pollok and husband John of San Antonio and Rita Kolodziej and husband Ernest of Kosciusko; and her brother, Fred Moczygemba of Pleasanton.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk.
Entombment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Mausoleum in Poth.
Serving as pallbearers were Lillian’s grandsons, Steven Vontur, Timothy Kroll, Edward Bordovsky Jr., James Adair, and Travis Adair, and her grandson-in-law, Carl Pape.
