Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1929-2014

Margaret Luedecke, 84, went to heaven on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. She was born on Aug. 18, 1929, near Yorktown, Texas, to Leon and Albina Kolodzey.

As a young girl, Margaret moved to Dewees in Wilson County, where she attended the Kasper School. In 1946, she married her beloved husband, Ernest Luedecke. Margaret served as a school crossing guard for the San Antonio ISD for many years. She also managed the optometry office of Dr. Robert Buck. Upon retirement, she enjoyed gardening and helping Ernest take care of the family ranch. Margaret was an active member of St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in San Antonio from 1950 to 1970 and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Somerset from 1970 to present.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; sons Jerry and Clifton; her parents; and stepmother Meta Kolodzey.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Canon; grandchildren Amy (Canon) Malventano and husband Allyn, Kimberly (Luedecke) Morrow and husband James, Michelle Luedecke, and Jeffrey Luedecke; great-grandson Tatum Morrow; brother Wilbert Kolodziej; sisters Kay Frances Eldridge and Lynette Jarzombek; brother-in-law Elory Luedecke; and sister-in-law Dorothy Mott.

Visitation was held on Friday, Feb. 7, from 5-9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Somerset.

Interment followed in the Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 19711 Ninth St., Somerset, TX 78069.
