Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Marjorie Louise Gadd passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, in La Vernia, Texas, at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 6 days. She was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Hernando, Miss., to Grover and Gladys Busch Gadd. She was a former resident of San Antonio and a resident of La Vernia for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ira Lee Stofa; brothers Junior Gadd and Earl Gadd; and a sister, Ezell Partin.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Carol Riley and husband Virgil of La Vernia; sisters Elaine Sain of Olive Branch, Miss., and Ann and Dan Partin of New Mexico; brothers Crawford Gadd of Smithville, Bobby Gadd and wife Billie Ann of Edna, and James Gadd of Smithville; grandchildren Shawntel McCune, Russell McCune, and Bangie Wilson; great-grandchildren Jared, Deonte, Damien, Jaycee, Jazmine, and Daryl; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 26, at 6 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tony Perez officiating.

Interment followed in the Kicaster Cemetery in La Vernia.

Serving as pallbearers were Russell McCune, Deonte Wilson, Brian Gadd, Bobby Gadd, Crawford Gadd, and Matt Riley.
