Disaster awareness event is March 1
Be prepared and be aware of what to do in a natural disaster by attending the first annual Disaster Public Awareness Day on Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the H-E-B parking lot at 925 10th St. (U.S. 181) in Floresville.
Ask yourself, “Am I ready?” If you are unsure as to what course of action to take for you and your family in case of a flood warning, tornado, hurricane, earthquake, or the like, meet, talk, and get more information from the Wilson County Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) team, Red Cross, Ham Radio operators, and the Amateur Radio Emergency Services, Military Auxiliary Radio System, National Weather Service Skywarn, and Meteorologist Albert Flores from News4 San Antonio. Attendees will also learn how to become a SKYWARN spotter, Amateur Radio (Ham) operator, or a CERT member.
