Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Stockdale News: Chamber announces Jubilee band headliners

The “Josh Abbott Band” and the “Randy Rogers Band” will highlight the 70th annual Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee set for Thursday through Saturday, June 19-21.

The “Josh Abbott Band” will perform Friday, while the “Randy Rogers Band” will play Saturday, according to Stockdale Chamber of Commerce President Sherry D. Lambeck.

Also, the Watermelon Growing Contest will be held on Thursday, June 19.

The contest is open to any resident of Wilson County and surrounding areas. Any variety of melon may be entered. Entry fee is $25 plus five ripe melons, if money is received on or before Friday, June 6. Entry fee is $50 plus five ripe melons if money is received after June 6, but before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18. No entries will be accepted after 5 p.m. June 18.

Entry fees may be mailed to: Stockdale Chamber of Commerce, ATTN: Watermelon Growing Contest, P.O. Box 578, Stockdale, TX 78160. Donated melons may be turned in on day of weigh-in.

The winner is guaranteed a $500 cash prize and trophy, and is invited to be the primary watermelon seller at the 2015 Watermelon Jubilee. Second place is guaranteed a $250 cash prize, and third place is guaranteed a $100 cash prize.
