The Joshua D. Brown Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas encourages every Texas citizen to fly their Texas “Lone Star” flags.

The state of Texas designated Feb. 19 as Texas Statehood Day in honor of the date in 1846 when Texas officially became the 28th state in the United States. This ended the era of the Republic of Texas, which many people do not know was an independent nation that existed from April 21, 1836, to Feb. 19, 1846.

If interested in an organization dedicated to educating, preserving, and promoting Texas history, the group encourages you to attend their open meetings on the fourth Monday of the month at 10 a.m., in the Trinity Baptist Church Chapel, located at 800 Jackson Road and Bluebell in Kerrville, or contact Chapter President GayNell Wells at 830-895-0788.
