Wilson County Farm Bureau will host a food drive Saturday, Feb. 22, at the H-E-B in Floresville, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All donations to this food drive will go to benefit The Ronald McDonald Houses in San Antonio.

Farmers and ranchers in Wilson County will reach out to the local people to talk with them about how their food is grown during “Texas Food Connection Week,” held Sunday through Saturday, Feb. 16-22.

“Texas Food Connection Week is about sharing what we do on our farms and ranches to grow our food, fuel, and fiber,” said Wilson County Farm Bureau President Tom Ortmann. “Young people and adults have questions about their food and agriculture. This week gives farmers the opportunity to start a conversation with them.”

“Texas Food Connection Week,” formerly “Food Check-Out Week,” was established to connect farmers with their customers and spur conversations about agriculture and food-related issues, including affordability, nutrition, animal welfare, profitability, and productivity.

Donations may also be taken to the Wilson County Farm Bureau offices at 1114 10th St. in Floresville or 13123 U.S. 87W. in La Vernia, until Friday, Feb. 21.

“Food is one thing that connects everyone. We work hard every day to provide families with fresh, nutritious, and affordable food,” Ortmann said. “We are looking forward to connecting with our consumers.”

For more information, contact the Wilson County Farm Bureau office at 830-393-2481 or visit http://media.texasfarmbureau.org.
