Enjoy Wine & Art Festival Feb. 22

It’s a stellar evening enjoying fine wine, art, and food with friends. The Sacred Heart School’s ninth annual Wine & Art Festival is this Saturday, Feb. 22, from 6-11 p.m. This signature event and major fund-raiser for Wilson County’s only Catholic school will be held in the Floresville Event Center on S.H. 97 West.
Enjoy this annual opportunity to appreciate a variety of artworks by a range of contributors, including many local artists and artisans. The festival features complimentary wine selections and a gourmet meal by Lois Ferguson Tymrak. On the menu will be a choice of smothered chicken or roast beef, served with country potatoes and green beans. Hors d’oeuvres can be enjoyed throughout the evening. Delicious desserts will complete the elegant dining experience.
A silent auction will include myriad selections, including crafts, along with a children’s picnic table, Cracker Barrel rocking chair, a potato cannon, custom wine rack, hammer-forged knives, and limited-edition art -- large and small!
The live art auction will include a limited original hand-embellished giclee on canvas portrait of Texas Ranger H.R. Lefty Block by master painter and former Texas State Artist Jack White, a resident of Floresville. White’s wife, Mikki Senkarik, a renowned artist whose works are highly collectible, also has contributed. See “Featured artists” for the full list of contributing artists.
Proceeds from this event benefit Sacred Heart School in Floresville, which has provided area families with a quality education since 1933. The school, currently serving 83 students from 3K through the sixth grade, offers small class sizes in a faith-based environment.
General admission tickets for the Wine & Art Festival are $50 each and can be purchased at the Wilson County News. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. For more information, contact Kristen Weaver at 830-216-4519.

Unique Silk Art
By Sacred Heart School students, under the direction of their teacher, Margaret Cheek
Using a process popular from the early 1920s, these scarves were made using a “devore ‘burn out’ technique” and dye. Made of rayon satin woven into a silk chiffon backing, these one-of-a-kind scarves are a special feature of the Wine & Art Festival.
Sponsor a table
Sponsor opportunities are still available from bronze to platinum levels, and will include:
•Bronze -- $150; two general admission tickets, recognition on program brochure, and marketing materials.
•Silver -- $250; same as bronze with four tickets to the festival and co-reserved table with other silver-level sponsor, and one bottle of wine.
•Gold -- $500; reserved table for eight, two bottles of wine, an individual gift for each place setting, recognition on program brochure, tabletop display, and recognition on website as sponsor for one year.
•Platinum -- $1,000; same as gold with reserved table for 10, and three bottles of wine.
