After 69 years of life on this earth, Our Father sent His Angel of Mercy to bring Floy Dean “Deanie” Sekula to heaven on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014. Deanie was born Nov. 26, 1944, in Floresville, Texas, to Melton and Elvira Zunker Schulze.

She attended school in Three Oaks and Poth. After graduating from Poth High School, she worked at USAA until Brian was born in 1966. When Jeff was born in 1968, Deanie stayed home to raise the boys until going back to work as the food service supervisor at the Floresville Nursing Home. She then worked as a bookkeeper at C.L. Blankenship before spending the rest of her career at Rayco Product Sales, where she worked until she retired. In her 69 years of life she served many important roles. She was Deanie, the big sister, to her siblings, Sandra Smith and Gary Schulze. For 48 years she was the loving wife of Raymond Sekula, whom she married on Sept. 25, 1965. Soon after marrying Raymond, she was mom to Brian Keith and Jeffrey Collin. Her most recent role was being Momo to Jordan Alexandra and Kendall Michele, and Grandma to Jeffrey Collin Jr., Aleksandra-Mae Marie, Karston Edward Cannon, and Kristian Michael Cannon. All who knew her were blessed to know her love, kindness, and willingness to help. We know that Deanie is doing these same things in heaven, said her family.

Deanie was preceded in death by her mother, Elvira Schulze.

She is survived by her father, Melton Schulze; husband Raymond Sekula; their two sons and families, Brian Keith and wife Kristen Michele and their two daughters, Jordan Alexandra and Kendall Michele, and Jeffrey Collin and wife Kellie Marie and their children Karston Edward and Kristian Michael Cannon, Jeffrey Collin Jr., and Aleksandra-Mae Marie Sekula; her sister, Sandra Smith and husband Don; brother Gary Schulze and wife Kris; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa, officiated by the Rev. Andrzej Waszczenko.

Interment followed in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Cestohowa.

Serving as pallbearers were David Mosmeyer, Christopher Kline, Adam Sekula, Clayton Laskowski, Kristian Cannon, and Gary Clark Schulze.
