La Vernia to host Governor’s Small Business Forum Mar. 25
A Governor’s Small Business Forum: Opportunities of the Eagle Ford Shale will be held on Tuesday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the La Vernia High School Auditorium, located at 221 F.M. 775. The La Vernia Municipal Development District has partnered with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, regional allies, and economic development agencies to host this event.
The event brings critical information to small-business owners at a time when it is most needed.
This year’s Governor’s Small Business Forum is designed to educate the Texas small-business community on work-force development, doing business with the oil and gas industry, access to small-business capital, government procurement for woman and minority-owned businesses, and social media techniques. The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) will present information on employee training grants and other programs available through TWC.
The event features distinguished speakers Hope Andrade, the Commissioner Representing Employers for the Texas Workforce Commission; Dr. Tom Tunstall, director of research, Institute for Economic Development University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA); Terri Williams, UTSA Procurement and Technical Assistance Program Director; and social media consultant Sarah Page.
Employers, veterans, and entrepreneurs also will have the opportunity to hear presentations on “Doing Business with the Oil and Gas Industry” and “Access to Capital.”
For more information, contact Jennifer Kolbe, executive director for the La Vernia Municipal Development District, at 830-779-2371 or visit www.laverniamdd.org.
